Cell adhesion is impaired in plectin knockout cells. A Cells were cultured at a density of 5 × 103 cells per 15 μl drop on the inner side of a dish lid to form spheroids for 7 d. Images were acquired with a stereoscopic microscope and volumes quantified with ImageJ. Scale bar = 250 μm (n = 5). B Confluent cells were detached with dispase and mechanically fragmented by pipetting. The left panel shows an image of the fragmented cell monolayer and the right panel shows quantification of the number of cell fragments. Scale bar = 20 mm (n = 6). C Cells were plated on a fibronectin-coated dish and counted the number of adherent cells after 2 h. The adherent cells were stained with crystal violet (left 3 panels).
