Schematic illustration of CRBP-1 inhibiting cancer stemness via regulating wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in HCC. CRBP-1 induces the intracellular levels of RA, which activates RAR/RXR and transcriptionally promotes the expression of WIF1 via activating RAREs in its promoter region, thus downregulates the expression of β-catenin and its correlated genes, consequently suppress the cancer stemness properties leading to the inhibition of HCC tumorigenesis
