Silencing ERK3 enhances cell migration of A431 cells. a A431 cells were transiently transfected with either non-silencing control siRNA (NSC) or ERK3 siRNA (siERK3) as indicated. Two days post-transfection, one set of cells were harvested, and the change in proteins level was analyzed by immunoblot analysis. Representative western blots are shown as cropped gel images. Full length blots are presented in Additional File 3 (Figure S3). The other set of cells were used for the transwell cell migration assay, and the number of migrated cells was quantitated after 18 h. Representative images of migrated cells with crystal violet staining were shown in (b). The average number of migrated cells per well is presented in the y-axis of the bar graph in (c). Values represent mean ± S.D. An asterisk indicates a significant difference with P-value < 0.0001 by Student’s t-test
