Analysis of CD8⁺ subpopulations. Blood leukocytes were immunostained for CD4, CD8 and CD3. CD8⁺CD4⁻ cells (a) were then identified as cells that expressed higher levels of CD8 plus CD3 (CD8^hiCD3⁺), low levels of CD8 plus CD3 (CD8^dimCD3⁺) or low levels of CD8 but not CD3 (CD8^dimCD3⁻). The proportion of CD8⁺CD4⁻ cells that expressed CD3 pre and post nivolumab treatment for each patient is in panel b. In addition, CD8⁺ subpopulation analysis pre- and post-anti-PD-1 treatment was quantified for each OCSCC patient.
