From: NKX2.5 is expressed in papillary thyroid carcinomas and regulates differentiation in thyroid cells

Fig. 3

Overexpression of NKX2.5 reduces thyroid differentiation markers and iodide uptake in PCCL3 cells: PCCL3 cells were transfected with empty vector (pcDNA3.1) or with the plasmid encoding for NKX2.5 (pNKX2.5) and, 24Ā h later, we have evaluated: (a) TSH receptor (TSHR), (b) Thyroperoxidase (TPO) and (c) Sodium-iodide symporter (NIS) mRNA levels, besides (d) iodide uptake (for RT-PCR, nā€‰=ā€‰7 per condition and for iodide uptake assay, nā€‰=ā€‰9 per condition; * pā€‰<ā€‰0.05 vs. pcDNA3.1, ** pā€‰<ā€‰0.01 vs. pcDNA3.1, ***pā€‰<ā€‰0.001 vs. pcDNA3.1). Data are expressed as relative to control (empty vector - pcDNA3.1). TSHR ā€“ thyrotropin receptor; TPO ā€“ thyroperoxidase; NIS ā€“ sodium-iodide symporter
