(b) The morphology of random nanofibers as-spun. (c) The topography of relatively well-aligned nanofiber. Confocal images of MDA-MB-231 cells cultured on: (d) flat tissue culture polystyrene, random nanofiber (e) and (f) aligned nanofiber. The cells on polystyrene display no net alignment. On random nanofiber they display indecisive alignment, pointing in directions dictated by cell attachment to specific nanofibers. On aligned fiber the cells align in the direction of the underlying fiber and begin migrating.
