Resistin-induced ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 expressions were mediated by AMPK. SK-Hep1 cells were pretreated with AICAR at different concentrations (i.e. 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 ng/ml) for 1 h. They were then kept as the control or treated with resistin (50 ng/mL) for 4 h, and their ICAM-1 (A) and VCAM-1 (B) mRNA expressions were determined by using real-time PCR.
