Salinomycin decreases expression of stem cell markers and self-renewal properties. (A) The RT-qPCR results demonstrate a decrease in gene expression of both CD44 and BMI-1 with increasing doses of salinomycin. Values are relative to a control of 0 μM salinomycin and endogenous control GAPDH. (B) Sphere formation assay shows that salinomycin inhibits self-renewal capabilities of the cancer stem cells.
