Cell surface expression of CXCR4 in normoxia and hypoxia treated MDA-MB-231 (A) and MCF7 (B) cells. Human breast cancer cell lines, MDA-MB-231 and MCF7 cells were exposed to either normoxia or hypoxia (2% O2 with 5% CO2) for 48 hrs. Cell surface expression of CXCR4 on breast cancer cells was assessed by FACScan analysis, and expressed as mean channel fluorescence (MCF). (A-B) Results shown represent one experiment from a total of three independent experiments. The grey filled indicates CXCR4 expression on normoxia-treated cells, whereas the grey line indicates CXCR4 expression on hypoxia-treated cells. (C) Data are expressed as the mean ± SD of three separate experiments. *p < 0.05 versus normoxia-treated cells.
