Both NKX3.1 protein and wild type NKX3.1 binding sites are required for the transcriptional repressor function of TMPRSS2 promoter upstream sequences. Core recognition sequences with transversion mutations are underlined in the wild type (wt) and in the mutant (mt) sequences.
