Immunohistochemistry in human gastric cancer. Heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) expression was immunohistochemically investigated using samples of surgically resected gastric cancer cells. Cells were immunostained using anti-HB-EGF antibody and anti-HB-EGF-C antibody. Representative positive staining cells were shown by black arrows. (Upper pictures) HB-EGF and HB-EGF-C were detected in the cytoplasm and nucleus of gastric cancer cells. (Middle pictures) HB-EGF and HB-EGF-C were detected in only the cytoplasm of gastric cancer cells. (Lower pictures) HB-EGF and HB-EGF-C were not detected in gastric cancer cells.
