Stable expression of the ccp1 protein resulted in an increase in cell number. (A) Parental MEF and MEF expressing ccp1/EGFP fusion protein were cultured in the presence of serum over 5 days. (B) MEF expressing the ccp1/eGFP protein showed increase in BrdU incorporation in comparison to control cells. BrdU incorporation was also examined in SK-N-SH cells. Cells expressing the ccp1/eGFP protein showed an increase in BrdU incorporation in comparison to control. (* p < 0.05) (n = 3). (C) In the absence of serum, 3-fold increase in cell number was observed in MEF stably expressing ccp1/eGFP fusion protein in comparison to parental MEF at 3 days of culture. The number of cells expressing ccp1/eGFP decreased afterwards.
