MMP9, MMP12 and TIMP3 proteins are increased in colon cancer epithelial cells compared to normal colon cells. Colon cancer epithelial cells (Caco-2) and normal colon epithelial cells were cultured. a MMP12, MMP9 and TIMP3 protein was assessed in cell lysates after 48 h incubation by immunoblot. Fold change of densitometry of MMP12 (b), MMP9 (c) and TIMP3 (d) normalized to β-actin, n = 4. Results are mean ± SEM. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01 compared to normal colon epithelial cells.
