From: Autophagy inhibition enhances Matrine derivative MASM induced apoptosis in cancer cells via a mechanism involving reactive oxygen species-mediated PI3K/Akt/mTOR and Erk/p38 signaling

Fig. 2

Matrine derivate MASM induces apoptosis and autophagy in A549, MCF-7, MDA-MB-231 and Hela. a Effect of MASM on cell apoptosis. Apoptosis in cells treated with different concentrations of MASM for 24 h assessed using Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining and quantified by flow cytometry. Bars show the mean ± SD from three independent experiments; b Cytoplasm vacuoles observed under light microscope; c Cells were treated with 0, 30, 60 μg/ml of MASM for 24 h, western blotting was performed to detect expression of Caspase 3, Cleaved PARP and LC3B; d Cells were treated with 60 μg/ml of MASM, western blotting was performed to detect expression of Cleaved PARP and LC3 at 0 h, 8 h, 16 h and 24 h. Data were representative of three independent experiments
