Schematic to measure the number of PID nanoparticles on the tissue surface. The number of PID nanoparticles on the digital image is calculated based on the light spot profile. This process consists of defining the area of a bright spot derived from PID nanoparticles using high-pass-filtered images and estimating the number of PID nanoparticles in the bright spot by using the data and correlating the number of particles detected by observed SEM and fluorescence intensity
