30-day, 90-day, and 180-day hospital-free days (HFDs) greater than each respective median for medically managed versus surgically managed patients with malignant bowel obstruction. Surgical patients had fewer HFDs at 30 and 90 days compared to medical patients (p < 0.01). There was no difference between groups in HFDs at 180 days (p > 0.05)
