Cisplatin does not reduce the viability of chondrosarcomas embedded in alginate or engrafted in nude mice. a Chondrosarcomas cultured in monolayer or embedded in alginate for at least 2 weeks were treated with cisplatin (10 μM) for 3 days. Then, viability was evaluated and compared to untreated cells. Values represent means ± SEM of 3 independent experiments. *: p-value <0.05; **: p-value <0.01. b Nude mice were injected with 100 μl of matrigel containing 106 chondrosarcoma cells. When the tumors were palpable, mice were treated for 25 days with cisplatin (i.p., 2 mg/kg, three times per week). Tumors were measured by a caliper and tumoral volume calculated by the following eq. (L x w2) /2 (with L corresponding to length and w to width)
