Resistance to 3-BrPA exposed for 4 h to hypoxia is counteracted by Prima-1 in C8161 cells. 5 x 103 C8161 and MelJuso cells were allowed to adhere for 18 h in complete Dulbecco’s medium with 20 mM glucose, 4 mM glutamine and 10% fetal bovine serum, and subsequently exposed to the indicated treatments in the same medium for 72 h, followed by 3 h of hypoxia or normoxia. After washing twice in phosphate buffered saline pH7.4, adherent cells were fixed in 70% ethanol and surviving cells were evidenced by crystal violet staining a) normoxic cells; b) hypoxic cells
