Gal-1 inhibits proliferation of MCF-7 cells in a concentration-dependent manner (n = 8). Significant decreases in cell proliferation were induced by treatment of the cultures with 10 μg/ml (p = 0.008), 30 μg/ml (p = 0.013) μg/ml and 60 μg/ml gal-1 (p = 0.006), respectively (a). Gal-1 did not significantly stimulate proliferation of T47D cells at concentrations of 10 μg/ml, 30 μg/ml, and 60 μg/ml (p = 0.109) (b)
