Gene expression profiling following baicalein treatment. A panel of genes were selected for gene expression analysis by quantitative real-time PCR using specific probe/primer sets. FGFR-2 (a) was the most significantly altered gene to come out of the PCR arrays (Table 1). VEGF (b), MMP-2 (c) and ITGAV (d) have been implicated in tumour angiogenesis and were also selected based on previous observations in the literature. Bcl-2 (e) has been implicated in the apoptotic response to baicalein, while RB-1 (f) is a known lung cancer gene. Data is expressed as mean ± SEM (n = 7/group; **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.0001)
