From: Bile acids destabilise HIF-1α and promote anti-tumour phenotypes in cancer cell models
Dihydroxylated bile acids CDCA and DCA do not affect the metabolic activity, proliferation and cell viability of DU-145 cells. For metabolic activity (XTT), proliferation (crystal violet) and cell viability (trypan blue) assays, all cells were grown under hypoxic conditions (DMOG 200 μM), except for untreated cells. For all assays, no significant compromises were observed in cell metabolic activity, cell proliferation and cell viability with respect to time.
