Distant metastasis after orthotopic implantation of tumor cells in NOD.Scid mice. PC3-mCD47, PC3-GFP-Luc and PC-3Ā M-LN4 cells were orthotopically implanted to the prostates of male NOD.Scid mice and orthotopic tumor formation in the former two groups was monitored and confirmed by weekly bioluminescent imaging (data not shown here). Five weeks after tumor cell implantation, mice were euthanized. Lungs (a) and livers (b) were collected and were initially imaged for luciferase signal intensity before they were sectioned and H&E stained for microscopic detection of metastatic lesions as described in Fig.Ā 3d. The luciferase images were presented underneath the corresponding column in each figure. āœ±pā€‰<ā€‰0.05 as compared to the other two groups
