Growth properties of human A549 compared with murine ED-1 cells. Cell proliferation and serum sensitivity of A549 and ED-1 cells were determined by MTT assay at 0, 24, 48, and 72 h. A549 and ED-1 cells were seeded into 24-well plates at a density of 2.5 x 10⁴ (cells/well) and cultured in (a) 10 % fetal bovine serum (FBS) or (b) A549 and ED-1 cells cultured in 0, 0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, and 10 % FBS, respectively. The results were expressed as the fold change relative to the result at 0 h. All values represent the means ± S.D. of triplicate samples
