  1. RNA isolated from vascular fragments was analyzed by real-time RT-PCR. Ct values were determined using the Roche Lightcycler software and beta-actin values were subtracted to normalize for differences in total amounts of RNA. Relative values shown in table were calculated by the formula 2-ΔCt (Shb+/− minus Shb+/+). *indicates p < 0.05 when compared with wild type. N = 5–7.
