The MIF receptor CD74 is overexpressed in invasive MDA-MB-231 cells. (a) Comparison of CD74 expression levels between MDA-MB-231, non-invasive MDA-MB-468, and non-tumorous MCF-12A cells by Western blot analysis. Lysates of non-stimulated cells were analysed by Western blot and band densitometry analysis against human CD74 and actin. Numbers indicate relative CD74/actin ratios. The quantification is representative of three independent experiments. (b) Comparison of CD74 expression levels between MDA-MB-231, non-invasive MDA-MB-468, and non-tumorous MCF-12A cells by fluorescence microscopy. Surface-expressed CD74 was revealed by FITC-labelled anti-CD 74 Ab. As a negative control, cells were labelled with a FITC-labelled secondary anti-mouse antibody.
