Six weeks of tumor development induced body mass wasting. (A) Tumors derived from Morris hepatoma MH7777 cells that were implanted on the dorsum of rats and allowed to develop for six weeks produced significant body mass reductions compared to healthy controls. (B) A strong, negative correlation existed between final tumor size and the percentage of body mass loss. Dashed lines represent the 95% confidence band.
