Squamous cell carcinoma samples (A) or adenocarcinoma samples (B), were divided into two groups – low (less than 40 percent) or high (more than 40 percent) immunostained area – and plotted for local recurrence over the time shown (months). Dashed line represents cases with high Smac/DIABLO expression. A similar approach was used for the analysis of intensity of staining in squamous cell carcinoma samples (C). Dashed line represents cases with high intensity. Statistical analysis was performed by log rank test.
