Effect of I3C on basal ODC activity and cell number after 24 hours. ODC activity in cell lysates was determined as described in Materials and Methods. Results are expressed as a percentage of control values (n = minimum of 5; pooled SD of each set for ODC activity and cell number for each cell line are: SW480, 18.76, 11.38; HT29, 13.12, 4.11; HCEC, 15.22, 12.37 respectively). Significant difference from the control (DMSO treated) is indicated by * (P < 0.05).
