Overall survival was adjusted by patient covariates including gender, smoking history, age at initial pathologic diagnosis, tumor stage, and treatment with chemotherapy. A P < 0.05 achieved in the analysis was considered to be statistically significant. The LUSC patients with HIR (dotted line) show a significant difference in survival compared to those with low ratio (dashed line) (hazard ratio, 0.457; 95% CI [0.23, 0.89]; P = 0.022).
