(A) MCF-10A cells were treated with 100 ng/ml BMP4 (+) or vehicle (−) for 5 days and the cancer cell lines for 24 hours when grown as monolayers (2D). In Matrigel (3D), the cells were grown and treated for 4 (MDA-MB-361) or 7 days. The expression of p21 was analyzed by western blot. Tubulin was used as a loading control and relative expression levels were calculated with ImageJ. (B) BMP4 treatment leads to G1 arrest of MCF-10A cells.
