Reovirus ISVPs and cores kill HN cells to the same extent as intact virus. A. Reovirus stocks at 7.8×108 TCID50/ml were treated with 10μg/ml chymotrypsin (CHT) for times and temperatures indicated. Viral proteins were resolved on 10% NuPage Novex Bis Tris gels and probed using reovirus goat anti-serum. B, C. Reovirus treated for 5 mins (ISVPs) or 1 hr (cores) at 37°C, was used to infect Cal27 (B) and HN5 (C) cells, alongside un-digested reovirus. Cell survival was assessed by MTT assay at 96 hours post-infection. Means are from 3 independent experiments and error bars represent SEMs.
