  1. The number of immune cells represents median (range) per high-power field. The number of immune cells in the tumor islets and stroma (Islets + Stroma) was obtained by combining the number in the tumor islets and the number in the tumor stroma in each case. Then, the numbers of immune cells in the tumor islets and stroma were ranked and the median number was determined. Therefore, the median number of immune cells in the tumor islets and stroma is not a simple sum of the median number in the tumor islets and the median number in the tumor stroma as shown in this table.
